The Government today (December 30) released the Progress Report on policy commitments contained in the 2001 Policy Objectives Booklet.
"The Report shows that the Government has met most of its targets. Of a total of 1 368 commitments, 1 309, or 96 per cent are completed, on schedule or under review," a Government spokesman said today.
"The remaining four per cent of commitments are behind schedule mostly because of work slippage and the need for more extensive consultation in preparing legislation," the spokesman added.
The Progress Report covers the work of bureaux and departments up to June 30, 2002. As in previous years, it sets out the initiatives, targets and the position reached in tabular form for ease of reference. The reasons for commitments which are under review or behind schedule are given against the individual items.
The full text of the Report is now available on the Government homepage at http://www.info.gov.hk. Hard copies of the Report are now available at the Marketing Office of the Information Services Department at 4th Floor, Murray Building and the Government Publications Centre at Queensway Government Offices, Central. Members of the public who wish to get a hard copy of the Report today may do so before 8 pm. Copies will also be available tomorrow (December 31) from 9 am at 20 Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department.
